  1. Hi Shari,

A friend just told me about Better Being Underground the other day, and it sounds amazing.

I work for a video travel site called tripfilms.com and would love to feature your shop as one of the hidden gems of NYC. Please contact me at either mbyhoff@gmail.com to possibly set up a date to shoot!

  2. Hello!

I can’t find a number for you guys (you really are underground!!) – one of our freelancers who normally works at Radical Media is a regular of yours and would love to order some yummy sandwiches from you for a client luncheon tomorrow (9/17). I know you don’t deliver, but we will happily send someone to pick them up. Please email or call us at 212.780.6033 to discuss our request in further detail. Thank you, kindly 🙂

Please pardon me if my way of contacting you is a bit intrusive, but like I said, I could not find a number. Thanks again!

  3. shari,
I didn’t hear your email address loud enough when you (I assume it was you) told it to me today. Anyway, the knishwich was fantastic–some of the best pastrami i’ve ever tasted (wish there was a little more if though!). It actually handled relatively well, especially once i got past the first bites–the slaw was really yummy and the knish didn’t potato-out the other ingredients. Everything I’ve had from your shop has been fantastic–definitely my go-to as long as often as my lunch budget allows.

Places like yours keep me passionate about pursuing a career in food. I’m only a college kid, but I hope that means something!
    best,
    sam

  4. Love food I am a foodie and I love what you’re doing in New York I can only wish for something if not as grand but as tasty sounding as your underground in Detroit west villiage where I dwell. I’ll be working on it. Not trying to steal your idea I just like the concept and can appreciate any food success stories. Looking forward to checking you out in-person doing my visit there.

  5. Hey Shari,

Just discovered you guys today (thanks to a hearty sandwich craving and some rave reviews on FourSquare), and I’m so glad I did! I work right around the corner at a food tour company, and we’re always looking for cool new places in the neighborhood. We will be getting a food blog off the ground in the next few months, and I’d love to do a little story on you guys. Shoot me an email if you’re interested!

  6. I’ve heard rave reviews of you guys from my foodie friends, but I have celiac disease and have to thoroughly research before I eat somewhere. Are you guys able to do gluten free food? If I were to walk in to eat, would you know what had gluten and what didn’t?

Thanks in advance for your response. I’ve heard nothing but good things.

  7. My office would love to come by for lunch. We are interested to see what your price’s are but don’t see them anywhere.

  8. Hi,
We are looking to cater a BIG lunch (for 85) from you guys if possible for sometime in the next month or two. I’m having trouble finding your email contact info, but would love to find out more. Thank you!

  9. Hi Shari, MK and everyone!

Orla here, hope you guys still remember me two years later! Nearly finished my teaching degree now so when I’m finished and earning money hopefully I can make it back over to NY and visit you guys. I have a few friends that are heading over to New York for the summer only and was wondering if you would have any idea where they could look for work or anywhere that may be looking for summer staff, think they probably will be staying in the Bronx or Yonkers but any recommendations for them at all are greatly appreciated! Hope everyone is keeping well.

    Orla 🙂

    • Orla? Orla who? Hey Orla! Have them drop by or send an email or both. Or shoot me an email with their names and when they’re coming, etc. Will be happy to meet with them. We miss you and hope ur well. SHari

  10. Your food is fantastic but I have to say that the price is a little high compared to the amount of food that is given (i.e. lobster roll, baja tostada). So so good though – wish you were open on weekends!! Love, Mama Shelley

  11. Hi are you associated with Dona Abramson? I loved loved loved Bright and Kitchen/Market (had the soba salad at least once a week for years!) and I was googling to find where she is currently cooking. Thanks!

  12. Hi,
I’d love to order lunch for our office (23ish people) from you. Do you have an email address I can contact you at?
    Thanks,

  13. Hi there,
Your food is yummy and unique, but if I’m gonna wait in line to pay $16 for a take-out salad with just a few ingredients, it’s pretty disappointing to have one of those ingredients left out. Grilled Salmon, Greens, Edamame, Shiitakes, Pickled Ginger Vin
    NO EDAMAME.

    • Hi Dana,
Since you said our food is yummy and unique, you are clearly an honorable person. Sometimes we make mistakes. Sorry it happened to you after having waited in one of those lines. Lettuce buy you a salad to make up for it. Just tell Steve Shevy said so and show him this. Happy Spring
